- value adding and complimenting my work in risk management, which I'm passionate about
- target to complete within 2 years as a part-time, before Gwendolyn requires full attention in primary school
- mid-life crisis, whereby if I don't do it now, I don't think I'll ever do
- change in entry requirements...previously, there are requirements for completing a Diploma in Laws prior to the full degree...but recent research led me to complete in 2 years as the fastest route
- recognised degree anywhere else in the world, except Singapore
Well, the fun fact that I've found out about is the last point in the above list...the NUS LLB is only recognised in Singapore, but no where else in the world! Upon completing the UOL LLB, if I were to practise law as a profession, I can do so anywhere I like, except for Singapore. Under the Legal Profession Act, only specific recognised full-time LLB degree holders can practise in Singapore...For my case, if I am not targetting to practise as a legal professional in Singapore, it doesn't really matter whether this UOL external programme is recognised here. Wondering why the country is so protected upon legal professionals in Singapore, one has to study the history of the country, which I'm trying to learn more, from reading LKY's Memoirs...also recently, Subhas Anandas's book on Best I could
I'm really looking forward to the programme and hope that I can persevere and keep the passion going! To begin the course with for this graduate entry...I'm doing:
- Criminal Law
- Law of Contract
- Common Law
- Public Law
Will try to write a little more about my legal encounters in the next 2 years of study! Please render your support to me! Will need loads of it!
